Required documents to enter Bali.

For most visitors, the only documents  required to enter Indonesia or Bali are a valid return airplane ticket and an international passport.

However, some visitors will need a Visa to enter Bali. This depends on the country you live in.

If you plan to stay longer than 60 days in Indonesia, a Visa will be required in any case. If you fall within the category of people that do not need to present a visa, you can stay up to 60 days starting from the day you arrive. You'll receive an custom declaration document form. The date of your arrival is printed on the document. You will have to leave the country within 60 days after the date that is printed on this document.

Keep the custom declaration document close, as you will need it when leaving the country.

A return airplane ticket

A valid return ticket or pass-through ticket is required to proof your onward passage. If you don't have a valid return ticket, access will be denied to the country unless you can proof you have enough financial means to leave the country within 60 days of your arrival. A signed statement of your bank can proof you have enough financial means to buy a return ticket. The latter is not very waterproof and you are likely to have problems at the customs when entering the country. Remember there is still a lot of corruption even at the customs.

Passports

Basically, any foreign national who intends to visit Indonesia is required to possess a valid passport. They may enter the territory of Indonesia after obtaining an admission permit from Immigration officials at the Immigration Cheek Points. By regulation persons entering Indonesia must have at least 6 months validity remaining on their passport from the date of arrival. It does not matter if the person intends staying only a few days. The Indonesian authorities do not allow people entering the country if this basic rule is breached.

Visas

The nationals of the following countries do NOT need a Visa:

Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Denmark,
Egypt, Finland, Greece, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait,
Liechtenstein, Luzemburg, Malaysia, Malta, Morocco, Mexico, Netherlands,
New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden,
Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, United
States of America, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela.

If you do not belong to the countries mentioned above, a Visa is required. A Visa can be obtained at the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate in your country.

Note that other Visa types are available for non tourist purposes. Check out the Visa legislation.

Immunization documents

No immunizations are required for entry to Indonesia unless coming from an area infected with Yellow Fever; in this case, a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required.

Note that if you have recently been to an area infected with Yellow Fever, you will also be required to supply a Yellow Fever vaccination.
