Day 2. Somewhere between Belgium and Bali

 12-11-1999

Around midnight, we arrived at Abu Dhabi, the United Arabian Emirates.

This was a fuel stop. We quickly visited the airport.

I remember the Prayers Room. Tony opened the

room and thought this was the toilet, until he saw a few

men praying!

Around 6 AM somewhere above Sri Lanka,

I went for a walk and decided to pay

a visit to the pilots. I wanted to be sure they

where still awake!

Whenever you want to do the same, don't ask the stewards the permission. Do it right and just go for it..

Around 15h00 next day (12-11-1999) we arrived in Singapore.

As this was a transfer we had to stay at the airport. This is the cactus

garden on the roof of the airport.

Brett joined us. We called him the

Australian guy with the orange umbrella.

We enjoyed the fresh air after 20 hours flying.

But... the air was so humid and hot. I think it was 29 °C

and in the distance we could see lightning's of

a thunderstorm heading into our direction.

The Airport of Singapore is the largest in Asia and I think the second largest in the world. The distance between the terminals are so big that you can call an automatic train by pushing a button. The train will bring you to the other side of the airport. No conductor, all full automatic! On the right picture you can see the train arriving. Sorry for the flash in the window.

I was told electronic goods was pretty cheap here, but when visiting the shops the only cheap thing I saw was my Coolpix camera. All other electronic goods were as expensive as in Belgium.

One more picture in the airport in Singapore. Singapore is very clean. Even chewing is prohibited by the law. So, don't chew or go to jail!

And now the next flight to Denpasar.

Still a few hours and we are in

Paradise
