Day 7 - The trip to Nusa Dua and Ulu Watu 1/5.

17-11-1999

After one day of rest, it was time again to do some action. In the morning, Gusmank, the guy from the hotel, went to the Post. I joined him. It was the first time I made a tour in Bali with the motor bicycle.

Like in all tropical countries, you will find lizards all over the place. So don't be afraid of  small animals like these, they are everywhere. You will even find them on the wall of your hotel. And the more lizards you have in your room, the better. They will do the cleaning of the insects.

.

On our trip to the post, Gusmank stopped by at a little shop where he bought some food. The shopkeeper was a bird fanatic, so I made a few snapshots of his bird collection.

This was a very funny bird. Look how he is dancing!

Well, here starts our trip to Nusa Dua and Ulu Watu.....

Since my little trip to the post together with Gusmank, I discussed with Tony about renting motorbikes. Gusmank brought me to this rental office, and we discussed about the price.

After a while, we decided to rent the motorbikes with insurance for 30.000 IDR.

Later we found out we did pay a little to much. You can rent these motorbikes easily for 15.000 IDR to 20.000 IDR.

But we couldn't complain. The bikes were new and worked really well!

Note that the bikes are semi automatic. There are gears but no declutcher!

The trip to Nusa Dua took about 40 minutes. There was a lot of traffic, and as we were used to traffic on the right side of the road, we had to be very careful. If you drive in Bali, you need to have some good lights and a very good hooter! Making noise and light is the message. Some people told us it is very dangerous driving in Bali, but if you go with the flow, I don't see any problems. But be careful, that's the best advise I can give!

This is one of the alleys to large hotels in Nusa Dua.

I advise you to go into one of the alleys and visit the hotel.

Some hotels are villages! These are the hotels for the rich people!

The water here is very clean and warm. This is a very good place for swimming!

.

And again empty beaches. Once more, you can feel low season!

We ended up in this fishing area.

Talking about fish....

You can feed 5 families with one of those fish here!

.

When entering a town, you will always see two walls and greetings.

Selamat Datang means Welcome.....

.

One of those hotels. The entrance is huge!

Tony was asking for the petrol station. We were running out of fuel!

No fuel station in sight. Where can we buy some, we are running dry!
