Day 9 - Art and Culture in and around Ubud 1/7.

18-11-1999

While we were at Tjok's house the evening before, we contacted Anom via the radio. Anom told us he was going to come to Ubud on day 9 and guide us around Ubud. We were going to visit the most important wood carver and  a jewel smith .

This is the hotel Puri Seraswati. The hotel is surrounded by thousands of plants and trees.

If you look carefully, you can see that the top of the roof is open. There is no air conditioning, but there is a fan inside the room.

Be careful and use a mosquito net. There are many mosquito's around.

The pool was very small, but really deep. There were also play tools for children etc.

One of the women with offers for the Gods.

A little down the street, we went to a cyber café. We connected our portable computer to the telephone line and called Indosat. It was time to send out a new email to our family members.

I made a few photo's from Tony when we were at the cyber café, and also the view from the first floor on the main street of Ubud.

There are thousands of these small

food sellers on the road. They sell soup and

noodles. I never tried them, because

I was not sure about the hygiene of the food.

We arrived at the jewel smith. He was also a ham operator.

I made a little photo of his 6 element cubical quad and a two pictures from some flowers in his garden.
