Hi, there:
This is Sara Lee from TAIWAN!!
1. I am glad to bump into your traveling report and got abundant
information regarding Bali. Thanks a lot!! It's just great!!
2. Please also arrange to come to TAIWAN!!
It's a more wonderful place to see and learn many things!! Life
here is very convenient and interesting!! You can even do some part time
job as you are traveling here. Please let me know if you are able to
come someday. I will do my best to help you guys!!!! No sweat!!!
3. Can I provide a little piece of advice?!Whenever I click on some
other information pointed in your context, why not it opens another window,
but jump into another site in stead. It's not easy to surf cus I have to
go back to the root directory again. It's not that convenient.
This is my little advice. Thanks!
4. Again!! I love your work!!! Especially your tremendous
sense of humor!!! Hehehe!!
Warmest regards from TAIWAN!

Dag Kurt,
prachtig is. We hebben jammergenoeg geen zonsondergang gezien daar het rond 4
uur altijd begon te regenen! Hierbij heb ik nog es m'n herinneringen kunnen
boven halen en heb ik nog meer zin terug te gaan!!!
Groetjes

Being an
Australian, I can wholly sympathise with a love of Bali!
I do have some
suggestions though.
On your Q&A
page, under Malaria and Tropical Diseases, there is some incorrect
information.
Malaria is a
tropical disease transmitted by MOSQUITOS, not flies (just in case somebody
reads that and thinks it's OK to get bitten by mosquitos). Also, it's
not true that the pollution stops the malarial mosquitos. It's simply
because they've sprayed the urban areas a lot, to reduce the amount of
mosquitos.
The basic rule is.
If there are mosquitos, there's a risk of Malaria. Also, you should
mention that Malaria's not the only disease you can get in Bali from
Mosquitos. The other two (very serious, life threatening) diseases are
Japanese Encephalitis (sweels the brain leading to death) and Dengue Fever
(may not kill you, but very dangerous).
To stop mosquitos,
you should use an insect repellant with 30% DEET. This should get rid of
those bloodsuckers!
Also, it's not
true that taking Vitamin-B tablets will repel mosquitos. It's an urban
legend.
Also, you should
tell people they need an immunisation for Typhoid. Yuo get this disease
from eating contaminated food, and is quite often terminal.
On your "How
much money do I need in Bali?", you list some approximate prices for
hotels. Perhaps you can add a category "Losmen". These
are small 'hotels', that are VERY cheap. I never pay more than 30.000,-
Rp./Night when I'm there. They're very basic - often with a Mandi (an
asian bathroom), and an asian toilet, but they're great value for the
backpackers!
Anyway, as I say,
great site!
(I'm a
Hungarian-Australian if you're wondering about the name).

You should go into
business as a travel writer. This is the best, most down to earth travelogue
that I have seen on Bali yet. I am off to Bali this October...and after
looking at all of your pictures I am so excited. Did you happen to see the
Bali Sani Suites Hotel?
Thanks for sharing
your trip.

I enjoyed your pictorial of Bali.I plan to visit some time in the
future.I certainly will heed some of your advise. Thanks,Steve, from New

Thank you for sharing your trip with us. The pictures were spectacular
(by
the way, what type of camera were you using?). My husband and I are
going
to Bali for the first time this February. I'm sure we will study your
trip
again, as we prefer getting away from all the tourism in order to experience
more of the people and their way of life. Thank you again for all the
information. For all of the numerous hours I have spent on the internet
researching Bali, your site has been by far the best!

Hi Kurt & Tony,
Thanks for making a huge contribution to my beloved country. I am an
Indonesian Student that live in Canada for almost 4 years now. Ever since the
East Timor incident, most of Canadian always connoted Indonesia as pool of
blood, human rights violation, etc, etc.
Thanks to your web site, I can always introduce the most beautiful part of
Indonesia to the world. The most details of Balinese life and its people, from
third person perspective. Belive me, people always took for granted of
everything you said, especially if you try to persuade them otherwise of
whatever they believe.
Love all of those pictures =)

Hi Kurt,
I really enjoyed viewing your website. Lots of great pictures.
I've been
to Bali three times and didn't see nearly as much as you did. If I ever
get
to return to Bali now I have some more ideas of what to look for.
THANKS!!!

Hi Kurt,
My boyfriend and myself loved Bali when we went, but a nasty expreience
took the shine off the holiday.
We managed to get sucked in by a Time Share company's ‘fill out this
survey and you could win...’
This sort of thing is getting more prevalent in Bali as tourism grows
and they are out to get the unwary tourist any way they can.
Tips I would give:
• Do not get involved in any ‘free’ giveaways. Nothing is free.
• Do not fill out any surveys, no matter how nice the person seems.
• Being nice to these people only encourages them to try harder to get
you into their offices and squeeze a contract signature out of you.
• If you do get lured to their offices say ‘no thanks’ and walk out. I
wish we had.
• They do not give you time to read any of the legal documents so don't
sign anything.
Besides this pitfall I found Bali one of the most wonderful and friendly
places in the world (except for Kuta, which is dreadful).
Cheers, Fiona.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR HELPING PREPARE ME FOR MY TRIP. YOUR ADVENTURE WAS
BEAUTIFUL. I HAVE A QUESTION. IF ONE WOULD LIKE TO MAKE SOME PURCHASES HOW
WOULD HE GO ABOUT SHIPPING THEM HOME TO IN MY CASE THE USA? DUTIES? CUSTOMS?
A WOOD CARVING? HOW LONG DID IT TAKE FOR THE LEATHER WEAR TO BE MADE? WHERE
DID YOU HAVE IT DONE? I GUESS I HAVE MORE THAN ONE QUESTION. WE ARE LEAVING
FOR BANGKOK THURSDAY AM AND WILL BE IN BALI(UBUD) THE NEXT FRIDAY FOR A WEEK.
THANK YOU AGAIN.

Hello from Montreal,
Love your pictures.
The hotel you photographed is the Aston Bali in Tanjung Benoa. We stayed
there for 2 weeks but have no photos of hotel (purists!). Can we buy some
from you, I will tell you which shots?
Also, the shot of the store keeper with the green cookie tin in the
left-hand corner. We bought a cookie tin just like that for 20,000 rupiah
and it's our best souvenir. You should have seen the faces of the villagers
as we walked with it for about 1 mile!
There might be some more shots too, I have to go back throught your album.
How much would you want per 4x6 glossy? Reasonable, I hope.... I just want
to supplement my own 16 rolls....
We will post to but it's a lot of work. You did a great job.
Please e mail back.
Thank you.

Hi Kurt,
I will be visiting Bali coming December 4th.
Understood that you actually rent a car for most of your transport,
I would like to find out more details about:-
1. Which company did you rent your car from?
2. What was the daily car rental fee?
3. Have you taken any of the public transport?
If yes, any feedback?
Have browsed thru a few web-pages, the average daily posted
is about US$ 30 for a Toyota Kijang. What is your opinion?
Too expensive or reasonable??
I saw a car-rental company business card in one of your pages.
Do you still remember their charges for car rental?
Appreciate if you could share with me. Thank you.
Regards,
Eryanto

Dear Kurt,
One Taiwan website recommend your website on internet (so many Taiwaness
like to go Bali) and I really enjoy the reports. I've been Bali 3 times, but I
would
like to go around the island (circel from maybe east to west cost) next
year.
One point is I am a female, do you think it is safty?? -if I rent a car and
find a tourguide?? I know the cost is more expensive. Sometimes, it is
very hard to find the time that my friends can go with me--especially in
Taiwan--
when you have to work everyday, it is not easy to take a few days off--even
you
have pay vacation.
By the way, my English--well, I think is not too bad (ha!ha!).
Thanks for your suggestions in advance, and merry Christmas & happy new
year!
