How to get to Bali.

There are three means getting to Bali; airplane, bus or boat. There is no train in Bali.

Via airplane

The national airport Ngurah Rai of Bali is located in the south of the Island.

Most of the tourists arrive in Bali by air.

There are mainly three national Indonesian air lines:

  • Garuda Indonesia, Jalan Melati 01, Denpasar, tel. 23 46 06 and 22 27 88

  • Merpati, Jalan Melati, 57, Denpasar, tel. 22 28 64 and 22 58 41

  • Bouraq, Jalan Sudirman 19A, Denpasar, tel. (021) 3 84 87 60 and 3 84 33 23

A ticket from Jakarta to Bali and return costs around 1,500,000 IDR.

Via bus

There are plenty companies that have express buses from Jakarta or Jogjakarta to Bali. These companies offer very competitive prices and the buses are generally very comfortable. Some tourists might not be used to the very aggressive driving style of these bus drivers.

The prices are very competitive and is a great alternative to the more expensive air fair prices.

Most of the buses leave or arrive in Bali at Ubung bus station in Denpasar. A one way ticket from Jakarta to Bali is less than 200,000 IDR. The trip takes up to 24 hours. But be careful with luggage, as much luggage and money is stolen while sleeping on the bus.

By boat

Very few tourists arrive in Bali by boat.
